Dentistry

Dental problems can surface in many ways… your horse many start to act differently, perhaps becoming irritable or bad tempered because of the pain…it may try to avoid the painful area and give the indication of a back or leg problem when moving.

Here at Flawborough we take a rounded approach to our work with clients and their horses –and a problem initially highlighted as something else may be originating in the horse’s mouth. We know that dental problems can be serious and the equine dentist can do much to resolve the underlying cause, alleviate the pain and therefore symptoms.

So, it’s routine here to ensure that our patients have their teeth checked over for any hidden challenges. And we only use dentists accredited to the Worldwide Association of Equine Dentistry (WWAED) and are trained to level 2 - the standard recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and the Department of Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

It’s important for your horse’s well-being as well as your enjoyment as a rider that your horse gets a regular visit – approximately every 6 months - from the dentist. This will ensure a less stressful time for the horse at each visit and regular inspections will make sure that major problems do not occur.

We hold regular clinics with our team dentist and vet in attendance. If you’re interested in coming along then why not give us a call?
